Don’t Abandon Your Self-Esteem.

Nobody is Perfect!

Some Like It Hot is a movie that has one of the best endings ever.

Jack Lemmon spends the entire film pretending to be a woman. There’s this rich guy that falls in love with her/him. At the end they ride off on a boat into the sunset and finally Lemmon pulls off his wig and tells the guy that he’s really a man. And the guy says, “Nobody’s perfect.”

Don’t we all want perfection?

So many parents were devastated by the Tiger Woods scandal. Why? Because they had participated in the somewhat crazy practice that suggests that our children should have idols to look up to who are perfect. [Read more…] about Nobody is Perfect!

Are You Hiding From The World?

One of the most defining features of the human race is our need to attack others and to defend against that attack.

My personal experience of this is that it is extraordinarily painful, even agonizing at times. I think that is what got me started on the psychological and then spiritual path. Looking for a way out of this pain. [Read more…] about Are You Hiding From The World?

Women’s Day 2017!

Wednesday the 9th of August is International Women’s day.

I had some thoughts.

In the movie Gigi, which I saw about 100 years ago, Maurice Chevalier sang thank heaven for little girls.

I sing, thank heaven for the women that little girls become!

What is really fascinating to me is that so many men have written so many songs about how much they love women and how devastated they are when the woman rejects or leaves them and yet women are so judged by these very same men.

There is so much misogyny (woman hating) in the world – We see this most in the men who are most chauvinistic. Beneath this chauvinism lies a deep sense of inadequacy and vulnerability and to compensate for this, men need to control and dominate women. [Read more…] about Women’s Day 2017!

Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results!

Everyone has heard this statement, but do you know how to work with it, to stop doing the same things, to stop behaving like an insane person?

Which gets me to the problem with inspirational quotes.

They sound great and they feel good for about 20 seconds, but the challenge is, to what extent are we putting that inspirational quote into practice right now!

As Adyashanti so wisely says, “A great insight is only as good as the surrender it engenders.”

You might therefore ask yourself the question, “In what ways am I behaving insanely right now, in this very moment?” [Read more…] about Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results!

Why Are Only 4% Of Intimate Relationships Nourishing?

Virginia Satir, a world famous family therapist says that only 4% of intimate relationships are nourishing. My personal and professional experience draws me to the same conclusion.

Why is this so?

Just to start with, I think there are 3 main reasons. [Read more…] about Why Are Only 4% Of Intimate Relationships Nourishing?
