Don’t Abandon Your Self-Esteem.

Is There Magic Inside You?

I’m watching the latest season of the X factor UK.

I so love music.

I mean, I really love music.

I play the guitar and the piano, not too well and you might know that I believe that failure is not a fact, it’s just a concept. Well, according to societal conditioning I have failed to learn to read music for the piano. Multiple attempts over many years and I still can’t read beyond grade 1 level.

But is it in fact a failure or just a disappointment?

I think the latter.

Interestingly our cat Guinevere, who died a few months ago – wrote a blog about that – loved my piano playing. She would approach from some distance and rub up against my legs whenever I played. Amy, another cat hates it. As soon as my fingers touch the keys, she bolts from the room.

I wonder who is the better judge of my music?

Back to the X factor. [Read more…] about Is There Magic Inside You?

Are You A Moody Parent?

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine asked me to write about the impact of parent’s moods on kids. She was concerned about how her mood and the mood of her husband was impacting on her seven-year-old child.

The short answer is, parent’s moods have a very deep impact on their children.

Here’s the long answer: [Read more…] about Are You A Moody Parent?

“To Stagnate Or Grow?” – That Is The Question.

Hamlet famously asked the question, “To be or not to be?” meaning should I kill myself or not?

My response regarding our psyche is, “To stagnate, or grow, that is the question?”

It has so often amazed me how the world has changed in just the last 100 years. In the year 1900, few people dreamed that we could routinely fly around the world and be planning trips to Mars, or talk to someone instantly via email or Skype on the other side of the world, or download a book electronically in seconds, yet those very creators of this technology are, as I type, fighting with their partners, cheating on them sexually, feeling hurt and betrayed by the smallest of insults.

We have grown immensely in the use of our minds, but our hearts remain far, far behind. [Read more…] about “To Stagnate Or Grow?” – That Is The Question.

Everyone’s Doing Their Best – Even When They’re Not Doing Their Best!

Everyone has wondered why the world is the way it is.

Much love and joy, but so much pain and suffering and disease and chaos.

We also wonder why people are so wonderful and kind and caring and loving and yet so erratic and crazy and betraying and deceitful?

I’ve wondered about it too and I’ve also noticed how we all go into to judgement when things don’t go the way we want them to and when people don’t behave the way we want them to.

I’ve noticed how superior we feel when we are judging others.

What’s also fascinating to see is how good it feels when we do this.

I’ve also seen how this is also very painful and it’s painful because it creates a separation between us and life and this separation is isolating.

But we don’t tend to notice the pain. [Read more…] about Everyone’s Doing Their Best – Even When They’re Not Doing Their Best!

The Dangers Of Kindness

Most people – excluding psychopath’s, serious narcissists and bullies – usually want to do good in the world.

They want to be kinder, less selfish, and generally speaking more giving.

You would naturally say that this is a very good thing, but wanting to be a better person in this way, though a good thing for others, can be devastating to you! [Read more…] about The Dangers Of Kindness
